JESUS' SECOND COMING - BEFORE THE MILLENNIUM
1) During Jesus' second coming, who will
be raised to life in this first resurrection?
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the
voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in
Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain
shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in
the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." 1 Thessalonians 4:16,17.
In this first general resurrection, only the righteous, the dead in Christ,
will be brought back to life in new immortal bodies, to meet the Lord in
the AIR. At this point, the Lord can either go to Palestine
with the saints and reign for a thousand years, or go to Heaven with the
saints and reign for a thousand years. The answer is the latter.
The reason is because shortly before Jesus was led captive, He promised
His disciples that He would take them to where His father lived.
"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have
told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and
prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself;
that
where
I am, there ye may be also." John 14:2,3.
This type of language that Jesus used to represent His second coming to
take His people was not a coincidence. In order to understand fully
what Jesus was talking about, you need to know Jewish customs. It
was a Jewish custom at that time that when a man and a woman fell in love
and spoke of marriage, the man would tell the woman that he would go back
to his father's house and prepare a separate section of his father's house
devoted only for him and his future wife, and that when he had finished
preparing the place, he would come back and receive the woman as his wife,
and take her back to his father's house and live there. 1
God's house is in Heaven. Jesus, after His resurrection, went up
into Heaven to prepare a place in His Father's house for His people, and
He will come back to this earth to gather His people to the marriage supper
so that His people, as He promised in the verses above, may be where Jesus
is - namely in Heaven, His Father's house..
God's kingdom reigning on earth does not occur until after the thousand
years are over, where God's people will be able to live on the new earth
and see the new heavens.
There is no mention of any wicked dead being resurrected along with the
righteous, which means that they will be raised at a later date.
2) When Jesus said that He was going to
the Father, what else did He tell the disciples?
"Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then
I
go unto him that sent me. Ye shall seek me, and shall not find
me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come." John
7:33,34.
"Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him,
Whither
I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt
follow
me afterwards." John 13:36.
"Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me
where
I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me:
for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world." John 17:24.
Jesus was soon going to Heaven. But His disciples could not follow
Him into Heaven. Jesus told Peter that he could not follow Him into
Heaven at that point, but only "afterwards." Unless by a divine providence,
Peter could not enter into Heaven until he went into the grave and at the
last trump, was resurrected into immortality. More on this later.
Jesus wanted His people to behold the glory that He had with the Father
since the beginning. This glory that Jesus had with His Father did
not exist on earth, but already existed in Heaven before our universe was
ever created. Therefore, Jesus' redeemed people will be in Heaven
to behold the glory of both the Father and the Son.
Also, the phrase that Jesus uses, "where I am," is clearly evident from
the above verses and the context of John 14:3 that He is talking about
Heaven.
3) Which world does Jesus belong to?
"And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven,
even the Son of man which is in heaven." John 3:13.
"I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I
leave the world, and go to the Father." John 16:28.
"They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world."
John 17:16.
"Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom
were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be
delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence."
John 18:36.
It is plainly clear that Jesus' world and kingdom is not on this first
earth, a place of corruption and sin, but that His world and kingdom is
in Heaven, a place of incorruption and undefilement.
4) What is said about those who are part
of the first resurrection?
"Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such
the second death hath no power." Revelation 20:6 (first part).
Since the risen saints in the first resurrection will not be given into
the power of the second death, then it appears that any sort of resurrection
after this first resurrection will be given into the power of the second
death.
5) What is the condition of the people
on earth?
"The earth mourneth and fadeth away, the world languisheth and fadeth away,
the haughty people of the earth do languish. The earth also is defiled
under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws,
changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant." Isaiah 24:4,5.
6) What was prophesied that the Christ
would do in the last days?
"Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a
righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall
execute judgment and justice in the earth." Jeremiah 23:5.
7) How is Jesus to execute judgment and
justice in the earth?
"And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the
host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth
upon the earth. And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners
are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison,
and after many days shall they be visited." Isaiah 24:21,22.
At the Lord's second coming, the wicked will be slain, and the earth will
be their prison. But after many days (a thousand years as we shall
see), they will be visited again and be found wanting.
8) Who else will have a very similar consequence?
"And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless
pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon,
that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him
a thousand years, and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him
up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations
no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled." Revelation 20:1,2,3
(first part).
The word translated "bottomless," since the word "pit" above is a supplied
word, is the Greek word abussos (Strong's # 12), meaning
"depthless," specifically an abyss. Its use seems to be such as to
show that the word denotes any place of darkness, desolation and death.
The use which specially sheds light upon the meaning of the word here is
found in Genesis 1:2, where we read that "darkness was upon the face of
the deep." The word there rendered "deep," which is the Hebrew
word tehowm (Strong's # 8415), is the same word that is here
rendered "bottomless pit," and the text might have been translated, "Darkness
was upon the face of the abyss, or bottomless pit." We all know that
the word "deep" as there used is applied to the earth in its chaotic state.
Precisely this it must mean in this third verse of Revelation 20.
Why the earth is in its chaotic state will be mentioned later on. 2
Therefore, it is on earth, the bottomless pit, that Satan will be bound
and chained. Since all the wicked will be dead, Satan will not be
able to deceive them and use them for his own evil deeds, hence the term
"bound" meaning that his power over the wicked dead will be useless.
In fact, Satan will be powerless as long as there is no human life on earth.
9) How bright will the coming of Jesus
be?
"And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill,
rivers and streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the
towers fall. Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light
of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as
the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach
of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound." Isaiah 30:25,26.
"Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger,
and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and
his tongue as a devouring fire: and his breath, as an overflowing stream,
shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve
of vanity: and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing
them to err." Verses 27,28.
"And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall show
the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with
the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones."
Verse 30.
When Jesus comes back a second time, because His glory will be so great
with the glory of His father and of the holy angels, it appears that His
brightness will light up even the moon like the sun and the sun sevenfold
its current luminosity.
10) What will result because of their transgression?
"Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein
are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned,
and few men left." Isaiah 24:4-6.
"A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a
controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will
give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the LORD." Jeremiah
25:31.
The word translated "desolate" above is the Hebrew word asham
(Strong's # 816), meaning "to be guilty," which implies that they will
be punished.
The word translated "burned" above is the Hebrew word charar
(Strong's # 2787), meaning "to glow," literally to melt, burn or dry up.
Even though all the wicked will be slain from the time of the plagues to
the second coming of Christ, most of them will in fact literally glow and
burn up in the presence and brightness of the Lord when He comes again.
Now after the wicked are burned up and killed, the verse above says that
there will be a few men, or people, left. Who are these people that
are left? No doubt of the faithful few that remained living up to
the point of Jesus' coming. The following verses proves this point:
"Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto
life, and few there be that find it." Matthew 7:14.
"Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the
earth?" Luke 18:8.
Also, some have claimed that these "few men left" are actually some wicked
people spared, people at this time that will not be destroyed, but that
they are left alive to repopulate on earth for the 1000 years. First
of all, the Scriptures says there will be only two types of people - the
righteous that will inherit eternal life, and the wicked that will perish.
And second, you would never find in the Bible that people will actually
live and repopulate on the destroyed earth for the 1000 years, as we shall
later see. From the beginning of the Bible to the end there has only
been righteous or wicked people, life and death respectively. Besides,
the verse in Jeremiah above said that the wicked will be given to the sword.
11) But does the Bible not say that the
heathen are to be given to the Lord for an inheritance?
"I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son;
this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee
the
heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth
for thy possession." Psalm 2:7,8.
12) What will the Lord do with them?
"Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in
pieces like a potter's vessel." Verse 9.
"And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter
shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father."
Revelation 2:27.
The word translated "break" above is the Hebrew word raa
(Strong's # 7489), meaning "to spoil," literally by breaking to pieces.
The word translated "dash" above is the Hebrew word naphats
(Strong's # 5310), meaning "to dash to pieces, or scatter."
Therefore, they are given to the Lord, not to be converted, but to be dashed
in pieces, when they are burned by the brightness of His coming.
13) How does the Lord thus rule the wicked
nations with a rod of iron?
"And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite
the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth
the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God."
Revelation 19:15.
As you can see, being ruled under a "rod of iron" is something that we
should never want to ever be ruled under.
Again, at Jesus' second coming, there will not be a world conversion of
heathens that will then be left to repopulate on earth. All heathens,
or wicked people, will be under the winepress of the fierceness and wrath
of Almighty God.
14) But people have claimed also, that
the fact that people are alive in Isaiah 24:7-18 is proof that the earth
will not be completely desolated after the great burn up, but is this true?
"The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh.
The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the
joy of the harp ceaseth. They shall not drink wine with a song; strong
drink shall be bitter to them that drink it. The city of confusion
is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in.
There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth
of the land is gone. In the city is left desolation, and the gate
is smitten with destruction. When thus it shall be in the midst
of the land among the people, there shall be as the shaking of an olive
tree, and as the gleaning grapes when the vintage is done. They shall
lift up their voice, they shall sing for the majesty of the LORD, they
shall cry aloud from the sea. Wherefore glorify ye the LORD in the
fires, even the name of the LORD God of Israel in the isles of the sea.
From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to
the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the
treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers
have dealt very treacherously. Fear, and the pit, and the snare,
are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth. And it shall come to pass,
that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit;
and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the
snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the
earth do shake." Isaiah 24:7-18.
If you look at the whole context of Isaiah 24, verses 1 through 6 talks
about the destruction of the earth and the wicked. Verses 7 through
18, as the verses above show, changes context in time where it talks about
the conditions of the earth and people shortly before Jesus comes back.
And finally in verses 19 through 23, it changes context once again to the
future where it talks about the second coming of Christ, the old earth
being destroyed, and the future reign of Christ on the new earth after
the millennium.
Changing context between time frames closely related together in Bible
prophecy, especially the end-time events in the book of Revelation, is
very common in the Bible. In fact, this is also true for historical
facts from the beginning of the Bible to the end. For example, the
changing of context in time for the creation of Adam and Eve found in Genesis
chapters 1 and 2.
15) What will Jesus do to those people
who are eating flesh meats at His second coming?
"For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like
a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames
of fire. For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all
flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many. They that sanctify
themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the
midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and
the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD." Isaiah
66:15-17.
The word translated "abomination" is the Hebrew word sheqets
(Strong's # 8263) which signifies "filth."
Evidently, besides all the animals that are mentioned in the Bible as being
unclean to eat, according to the second and third plague of the seven last
plagues, all animals one way or another who drink water in order to survive,
whether they live or die by the plague of blood that is poured into it,
will all be considered filth since the water of blood would circulate throughout
their whole body, thus contaminating their already polluted systems.
16) What will happen after the wicked burn
up by the brightness of Jesus' coming?
"And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice,
saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather
yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; that ye
may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of
mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and
the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great." Revelation
19:17,18.
"And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse,
which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled
with their flesh." Revelation 19:21.
It appears that the Lord will permit certain creatures, namely the fowls
of the sky, to remain alive after His second coming. The word translated
"fowls" is the Greek word orneon (Strong's # 3732) which
signifies "a birdling." The fowls left alive to partake of the supper
are comparable to the unclean and predatory birds of Leviticus 11:13-20.
If the fowls are permitted to partake of their supper, surely there will
be flesh bodies that are scattered after the great burn up.
17) In what parts of the earth will the
wicked be scattered?
"And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the
earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented,
neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground." Jeremiah
25:31,33.
THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN
Statistics of the King James Version
Bible
The term "kingdom of heaven" is found 32 times in the Bible, all in the
book of Matthew.
The term "kingdom of earth" is found 0 times in the Bible.
The words "enter," "kingdom," and "heaven" are contained in 4 verses in
the Bible, all in the book of Matthew.
The words "enter" and "earth" are contained in 0 verses in the Bible.
18) What are the four verses that contain
the words "enter," "kingdom," and "heaven?"
"For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness
of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom
of heaven." Matthew 5:20.
"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is
in heaven." Matthew 7:21.
"And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as
little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven."
Matthew 18:3.
"Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich
man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again
I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle,
than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." Matthew 19:23,24.
In the verses above, in Matthew 7:21, clearly it can be shown that the
kingdom of heaven is the place of the "Father which is in heaven."
Also, in the last verses, the "kingdom of Heaven" is synonymous with the
"kingdom of God." The word here translated "enter" is the Greek word
eiserchomai
(Strong's # 1525) which means "to enter." Literally speaking according
to the context, you would enter into heaven - the kingdom of God.
The word here translated "heaven" is the Greek word ouranos
(Strong's # 3772) which means "the sky; by extension heaven (as the abode
of God)." Coupled with the term "kingdom," the kingdom of heaven
would imply a place of happiness, power, eternity; specifically the gospel
(Christianity).
Nowhere in the Bible is the term "kingdom of heaven" associated with the
"kingdom of earth." Also, the word "heaven," when talking about the
kingdom, never means "earth."
19) Will the saints at the beginning of
the millennium receive their reward on earth or in Heaven?
"Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven:
for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." Matthew 5:12.
"But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth
nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal."
Matthew 6:20.
"For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard
before in the word of the truth of the gospel." Colossians 1:5.
"To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away,
reserved
in heaven for you." 1 Peter 1:4.
If you were told that a reward is waiting for you, or is reserved for you,
at home, it is logically evident that we would need to go back home to
receive it. Or if we had a chair reserved for us in the dining room
table, we would need to go to the chair in the dining room to partake of
the dinner. In other words, the reward will not come to us, we need
to go to where the reward is.
Likewise, as the verses above prove, our reward is reserved, waiting for
us in Heaven, where there is much treasures, where neither moth nor rust
corrupt it, and where it is incorruptible and undefiled, unlike the earth
which is the opposite.
20) Can a sinful, corrupt body enter into
Heaven?
"And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the
image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh
and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption
inherit incorruption." 1 Corinthians 15:49,50.
"For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal
must put on immortality." Verse 53.
The verse above says that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of
God, and respectively, corruption does not inherit incorruption.
We are now in flesh and blood, corrupt. We already inherit this first
earth, also corrupt, just by living and growing on it, which was pronounced
to Adam and Eve in the beginning:
"And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and
multiply,
and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion
over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every
living thing that moveth upon the earth." Genesis 1:28.
But the verse talks about something we cannot inherit, therefore, since
we already inherit this first earth given to Adam and Eve, the kingdom
of God cannot again mean this first earth.
We know that this earth that we are presently living on is corrupt and
stained with sin, and we also know that Heaven is a place incorrupt and
not stained with sin. Therefore, the kingdom of God obviously does
not represent earth, a corrupt habitation. The kingdom of God must
represent Heaven, an incorrupt habitation. As the verse implies,
incorruption must inherit incorruption. In order to inherit an incorrupt
Heaven, we must be incorruptible ourselves. In order to see God face
to face, we must put on immortality, or else we would perish in His sight,
as those who will perish when they behold the Christ in all His glory and
the glory of His father.
"And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see
me, and live." Exodus 33:20.
Logically it does not make sense if we inherited an immortal body only
to inherit a corrupt earth when Jesus comes back again. The only
reason that God's people will inherit an immortal body is not only to swallow
up death, but also to be able to be in God's presence in His incorrupt
Heaven.
Also remember that the new earth and new heavens, both incorrupt in nature,
are created after the millennium is over (see Revelation 21).
21) Will the marriage feast be on earth
or in Heaven?
"And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall
sit
down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven."
Matthew 8:11.
The scriptures never say that the redeemed will sit down with Abraham,
Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of earth.
22) What was Paul yearning for concerning
his present situation on earth?
"For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved,
we
have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the
heavens." 2 Corinthians 5:1.
"For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our
house which is from heaven: if so be that being clothed we shall
not be found naked. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan,
being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that
mortality might be swallowed up of life." Verses 2-4.
The words translated here "house" in verse 1, is the Greek word oikia
(Strong's # 3614), which means "an abode," or dwelling.
The word translated here "tabernacle" is the Greek word skenos
(Strong's # 4636), which means "a hut or temporary residence."
The word translated here "dissolved" is the Greek word kataluo
(Strong's # 2647), which means "to loosen down (disintegrate)," and has
implication of being demolished.
The earth where we are currently living in is the first earth. We
are not to dwell on this first earth forever, but our true home is actually
in Heaven, our abode. Paul longed to be in the heavenly dwellings,
to be clothed in the heavenly garments. But the earth was not made
in vain:
"For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed
the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not
in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there
is none else." Isaiah 45:18.
Only when the earth is re-created by fire will the redeemed be able to
inherit it back again.
23) Also, what did Paul say about our true
status?
"For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for
the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ." Philippians 3:20.
The word translated here "conversation" is the Greek word politeuma
(Strong's # 4175), which means "a community," and an example as one's citizenship.
Therefore, our community, or our citizenship, belongs in Heaven.
24) Is there any evidence that Jesus will
take His redeemed people to His place in Heaven when He comes back again?
In what ways does Jesus show this?
"Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven
is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field."
"The field is the world; the good seed are the children of
the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one" Matthew
13:24,38.
One of the fascinating aspects of Jesus' parables is that at times He gives
a complete accurate account of the events pertaining to His second coming
and how the events are executed.
The verses above shows the parable of the wheat and the tares, and how
it will be when Jesus sends His angels to gather up the righteous from
among the wicked. In this account, just as a man creates and cultivates
his own land, so did the Lord God in the beginning create and cultivate
the earth, the world.
25) If the world, the earth, is represented
as the field, at harvest time will the Lord gather the wheat and store
them into another part of the field?
"Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I
will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them
in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn."
Matthew 13:30.
The owner of the land will leave his house and go into the field to gather
the wheat. When all the wheat is gathered, the owner will then go
back to his house and store them there.
Likewise, the Lord Jesus will leave his home, which is in Heaven, and He
will go to the field that He cultivated, which is the earth. When
Jesus has gathered all his people, He will not gather His people onto another
part of the earth, the field, but rather He will gather His people, the
wheat, back into His house, the barn, and store them there, which is in
Heaven.
As we shall see, the earth will be completely destroyed and desolated of
life, therefore, the "barn" cannot be on the earth.
26) What is another parable that illustrates
the second coming of Christ?
"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the
sea, and gathered of every kind: which, when it was full, they drew to
shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels,
but cast the bad away." Matthew 13:47,48.
The gatherer's will leave their homes and go out to the seas, where they
will gather the fish. Again, the redeemed, when they are received
by the Lord in the air, will not be cast back down again onto another part
of the earth, just as the gatherers of fish will not throw them back into
the water, but will keep them and put them into their vessels, and bring
them back to their homes.
27) What did John the prophet see as he
was being led into Heaven?
"After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the
first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me;
which said, Come up hither, and I will show thee things which
must be hereafter." Revelation 4:1
"And immediately I was in the spirit; and, behold, a throne was set
in heaven, and one sat on the throne. And he that sat was to
look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round
about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald." Verses 2,3.
"The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven:
his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men." Psalm 11:4.
In heavenly vision, John first beheld a throne set in Heaven, and the Divine
Being seated upon it. The description of the appearance of this personage,
clothed in garments of mingled colors, is such as at once to suggest to
the mind a monarch vested with his royal robes. About the throne
there was a rainbow, which added grandeur to the scene, and reminds us
that though He who sits upon the throne is an almighty and absolute ruler,
He is nevertheless the covenant-keeping God. 3
28) What is before God's throne in Heaven?
"And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal:
and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts
full of eyes before and behind." Revelation 4:6.
29) Who, if any, are on the sea of glass?
"And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that
had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his
mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass,
having the harps of God." Revelation 15:2.
"And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before
the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the
hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the
earth." Revelation 14:3.
It becomes apparent that these people who became victorious over the beast,
the image, the mark and the number, all of which were proclaimed on earth
as a warning to the world, were redeemed from the earth and are now seen
translated in Heaven and are standing on the sea of glass before the throne
of God.
30) When Jesus leaves Heaven with His heavenly
angels to come back to earth and receive His people, how long will Heaven
be empty of its heavenly inhabitants?
"And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven
about the space of half an hour." Revelation 8:1.
The word translated here "silence" is the Greek word sige
(Strong's # 4602), which means "silence" literally speaking.
When the Lord appears, He comes with ALL the holy angels with Him.
(see Matthew 25:31). When ALL the heavenly harpers leave the courts
above to come to this earth with their divine Lord as He descends to gather
the fruit of His redeeming work, will there not be silence in Heaven?
The length of this period of silence, if we consider it prophetic time,
would be about seven days, where one day equals one year, 24 hours equals
360 days (Jewish reckoning of 30 days per month), one hour would be 15
days, and finally a half an hour would be about one week. 4
"After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty
days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty
years, and ye shall know my breach of promise." Numbers 14:34.
"And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and
thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed
thee each day for a year." Ezekiel 4:6.
If the new kingdom is started right away on the destroyed earth (as some
have claimed), then that would contradict this scripture of prophecy where
there will eventually be noise again, from the angels and the redeemed
people, after the silence was over. Therefore, the redeemed are translated
to Heaven, and only then will the silence cease after a half an hour, or
in prophetic time, seven days.
31) After Jesus' second coming will there
be people in Heaven?
"And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven,
saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power,
unto the Lord our God." Revelation 19:1.
"And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye
his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great. And
I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of
many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia:
for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice,
and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his
wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she
should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen
is the righteousness of saints." Verses 5-8.
The word translated here "people" is the Greek word ochlos
(Strong's # 3793), which means "a throng," and by extension a "class of
people."
John hears great voices of a throng (according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary,
it means a multitude of assembled persons) in Heaven. The wife is
the New Jerusalem:
"Come hither, I will show thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.
And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and
showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending
out of heaven from God." Verses 9,10.
The marriage of the Lamb is His reception of this city. By figure
of personification, which gives life and action to inanimate objects, the
city, the bride, has made herself ready. How does she make herself
ready? She was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, which is the
righteousness
of saints. No doubt this means that the holy city will be occupied
by the hosts of the redeemed and immortal ones who walk its golden streets.
5
The new Jerusalem does not come down to earth until after the thousand
years are over (which is the latter half of Revelation 20 and onwards),
which means that at the beginning of the thousand years, the new Jerusalem
is in Heaven. In order for the new Jerusalem, the wife, to be arrayed
with the righteousness of saints, Jesus after His second coming must take
his people back to Heaven so that they will cover the new Jerusalem with
fine linen, and only then can the marriage take place.
But if Jesus comes to the earth and stays for a thousand years, how can
the marriage supper take place when the marriage is His reception of the
prepared bride, the new Jerusalem?
As in the parable of the marriage of the king's son (Matthew 22:1-14),
all this will take place in Heaven, the marriage supper, at the beginning
of the thousand-year reign, not at the end.
32) Again, when John sees the New Jerusalem
coming down from Heaven, what does he notice about the Lamb's wife?
"And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God
out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband."
Revelation 21:2.
When coming down from Heaven, not only did John see the holy city, but
he also saw that the city was prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Again, if the saved of all ages are not brought to Heaven after the second
coming of Christ, how can it be said that, after the millennium, the city
was prepared as a bride when coming down from Heaven? Remember that
for the holy city to be prepared she cannot be naked, but she must be clothed.
And what will she be clothed with? As we have already seen in Revelation
19, she will be clothed with the righteousness of saints, whom Christ died
for. This is what the marriage of the Lamb is all about. As
in numerous parables regarding this, the Lord will send his angels and
gather all the saved, His saints, where in Heaven the Lord will serve them
at the marriage supper.
THE EARTH'S CONDITION DURING THE 1000 YEARS
33) When Jesus and the saints go to Heaven,
what will they then be doing?
"They shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him
a thousand years." Revelation 20:6 (last part).
Clearly it can be said that the wicked will not reign with God and Christ
in Heaven as priests for a thousand years.
34) As priests of God and of Christ, what
role will they have in the reign in Heaven?
"Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the
unjust, and not before the saints? Do ye not know that the saints
shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are
ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we
shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?"
1 Corinthians 6:1-3.
35) While Jesus and the saints are in Heaven,
what will the condition of the earth be?
"Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth
it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof." Isaiah
24:1.
"The land shall be utterly emptied, and utterly spoiled: for the
LORD hath spoken this word." Verse 3.
"The
earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved,
the earth is moved exceedingly. The earth shall reel to and
fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression
thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again."
Verse 19,20.
Life and habitation as we know it, once the earth is destroyed and desolated,
will fall and not rise again, until after the millennium is over.
The earth will be desolated and will stay desolated, nothing will be built
and grown on the earth.
36) What did another major prophet say
about the condition of the earth during the millennium?
"I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and
the heavens, and they had no light. I beheld the mountains,
and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. I
beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the
heavens were fled. I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a
wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the
presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger. For thus hath the
LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not
make a full end." Jeremiah 4:23-27
"For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because
I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will
I turn back from it. The whole city shall flee for the noise of the
horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the
rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell therein."
Verses 28,29.
Truly, by the description of the conditions at this time, the earth is
destroyed and totally uninhabitable because of the Lord's fierce anger.
The earth is a total wasteland at this time. If there are people
living on the destroyed earth at this time to build and construct, that
would contradict when the Lord Himself have said, "The whole land shall
be desolate," "there was no man," and it shall "not rise again."
37) Will the bodies left lying on the ground
throughout the earth be touched during this time?
"And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth
even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented,
neither
gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground."
Jeremiah 25:33.
Judging by this condition that is to occur throughout the whole 1000 years,
it is hard to imagine that if the saints and Christ were to rule on earth
at this time (as some have supposed), they would constantly day by day
see the dead bodies and eaten carcasses, and at the same time rejoice in
front of such vile and grotesque imagery. Remember that the Lord
said that these bodies will not be lamented, gathered nor buried.
Surely if Christ and His saints were to rule on earth at this time, it
would make sense to dispose of this foul imagery while the new kingdom
was reigning. But it will not be disposed of. There will be
no saints on earth that will lament, gather and bury the dead bodies.
All the saints at this time will be in Heaven.
The earth is a vast charnel house of desolation and death. The voice
of God has shaken it to its foundations; the islands and mountains have
been moved out of their places; the great earthquake has leveled to the
earth the mightiest works of man; the seven last plagues have left their
all-desolating trail over the earth; the burning glory attending the Son
of man has borne its part in accomplishing the general desolation; the
wicked have been given to the slaughter, and their putrefying flesh and
bleaching bones lie unburied, ungathered and unlamented from one end of
the earth to the other. 6
JESUS' THIRD COMING - AFTER THE MILLENNIUM
38) What prophecy denotes events that will
occur after the 1000 years are over?
"And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the
host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon
the earth. And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are
gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after
many days shall they be visited." Isaiah 24:21,22.
"Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD
of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients
gloriously." Verse 23.
After the thousand years are over, after the judgment of the wicked is
over, Christ and His saints will come down from the thrones in Heaven to
earth and visit the wicked which are all gathered in the prison, the desolated
earth. Some time after this event, as verse 23 says, then will Jesus
and His kingdom reign on earth.
39) How will Jesus arrive on the earth?
"Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when
he fought in the day of battle." Zechariah 14:3.
"And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives,
which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave
in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall
be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward
the north, and half of it toward the south." Verse 4.
Some have supposed that this event, when Jesus' feet stands on the mount
of Olives, occurs during His second coming, since in verse three it says
that the Lord will fight against those nations. But notice the clause
after that - it changes tense, it says "as when he fought in the day of
battle." This is referring to a timeframe that occurred in the past,
and in the same manner - fighting, and not only fighting, but fighting
against the wicked nations. For example, one could say that "I will
graduate in university, as when I graduated in high school." Notice
that both clauses involve the same action of graduating, but both must
happen at different times.
Notice also that whereas verse three ends in the past tense (fought in
the day of battle), verse four begins again in the future tense, following
the same tense from the first part of verse three.
Therefore, in the time context of verse three, in order to have logical
sense, the Lord at His third coming will go forth and "fight against those
nations, as when he fought in the day of battle" during the time of His
second coming. Now we must prove that the day of battle will occur
in the timeframe of Jesus' second coming, and what the day of battle is.
40) Is there any mention in the Bible of
a particular battle which the Lord Himself will be involved in?
"For
they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the
kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the
battle
of that great day of God Almighty." Revelation 16:14.
"Hast
thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen the treasures
of the hail, which I have reserved against the time of trouble,
against the day of battle and war?" Job 38:22,23.
The day of battle mentioned in Zechariah 14:3 is the battle of Armageddon,
the battle of that great day of God Almighty. For the verse in Job,
the Lord gives a precise timeframe of when the day of battle and war would
occur. He connects it with His declaration of the treasures of the
snow and hail which He Himself have reserved against the time of
trouble. If the treasures of the snow and hail and the time of trouble
are contemporaneous, then the question now remains is when the snow and
hail will be used, or when the time of trouble begins. As we shall
see, they both happen in the same time period, therefore they complement
each other.
41) When does the time of trouble begin?
"And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth
for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble,
such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time:
and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be
found written in the book." Daniel 12:1.
"Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it
is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of
it." Jeremiah 30:7.
The time of trouble, or Jacob's trouble, is such as never was since there
was a nation even to that same time; there is none like it. This
time of trouble occurs after the standing up of Michael, the great prince
which standeth for His people. This is no doubt Jesus Christ, the
prince of peace (Isaiah 9:6), the prince of the host (Daniel 8:11), the
prince of princes (Daniel 8:25), the Messiah the Prince (Daniel 9:25),
Michael your prince (Daniel 10:21), the Prince of the covenant (Daniel
11:22), the Prince of life (Acts 3:15), a Prince and a Saviour (Acts 5:31),
the prince of the kings of the earth (Revelation 1:5). Jesus at this
time stands up (see the meaning of "stand up" in Daniel 11:2,3), or takes
His kingdom since probation
has closed, and His redeemed people, His kingdom, are now His.
Note that this time of trouble as never was should not be confused with
the great tribulation as never was in Matthew 24. Whereas the great
tribulation mentioned is the time of religious persecution upon the church,
as that was the context where Christ was speaking to His disciples, and
of His disciples in coming times, the time of trouble mentioned in Daniel
12:1 is of an international calamity, there has been nothing like it since
there was - not a church, but - a nation. 7
42) When will the treasures of the snow
and hail finally be used?
"And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came
a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It
is done." Revelation 16:17.
"And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every
stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the
plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great." Verse
21.
The time of Jacob's trouble occurs when the seven last plagues are sent
to the earth, when probation for all people have closed. The seven
last plagues are the international calamities that will come upon the earth.
Incidentally, the great hail out of heaven is the very last event of the
very last plague, the most exceeding terror to ever come upon the earth,
which the wicked, in this verse, specifically blasphemed God because of
the greatness of that plague, but this was already prophesied to Job.
43) After the plague of hail ends, what
will then commence?
"And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered
together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against
his army." Revelation 19:19.
As in Revelation 16:14, the wicked nations are gathered to the battle of
that great day of God Almighty, the second coming of Christ.
44) To continue with the scene on the mount
of Olives, after the mountain splits, what will encompass this great valley?
"And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out
of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband." Revelation
21:2.
45) When will the wicked be raised to life?
"But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years
were
finished." Revelation 20:5. (first part).
After the thousand years have passed, there will be a second general resurrection.
Who will be raised in this second resurrection? If the first resurrection
consisted of all the dead in Christ, the rest would logically be all of
the wicked dead. This also contradicts the fact, as some have suggested,
that once a wicked person dies, then that person will stay in their grave
for eternity, never to be raised to life again.
"Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which ALL
that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come
forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life;
and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation."
John 5:28,29.
This verse proves without a doubt that not only will the righteous be resurrected,
being called the resurrection of life, but the wicked will also be resurrected
as well, being called the resurrection of damnation. All people who
had ever lived and died, good and evil, will hear Jesus calling them out
of their graves.
One important fact to note is that for both of these general resurrections,
beginning of the thousand years and at the end of the thousand years, either
only the righteous are resurrected or only the wicked are resurrected,
but never both at the same time.
46) Now that the thousand years are over,
what will happen to Satan at this time? What will he be doing?
"And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out
of his prison, and shall go out to deceive the nations which
are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together
to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea." Revelation 20:7,8.
Now that the wicked are resurrected to life, Satan will be loosed from
his prison. In other words, Satan will now have the power to exert
his evil influence once again over the nations of the earth, and shall
deceive them all.
Notice also that Satan will once again, like he did during the second coming
of Christ, gather all the wicked to battle the Lord and His saints, and
this is when the Lord will again "go forth, and fight against those nations,"
of Zechariah 14:3.
47) After the wicked are raised to life,
what will they be doing?
"And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the
camp of the saints about, and the beloved city." Verse 9 (first
part).
Satan deceives the nations into thinking that they could overtake the saints
and occupy the beloved city.
48) What is God's declaration at this time?
"And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things
new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful."
Revelation 21:5.
God declares at this time that He would make all things new: which will
be the new heavens and new earth, as we shall see later, but first the
wicked would have to be dealt with, for God could not ever allow the wicked
to tread their sinful feets on a clean new world.
One thing must be examined for those who believe that Jesus and His saints
will reign on earth for a thousand years. Lets look at this presumed
scenario: "Jesus comes back a second time and brings His people to Palestine.
He begins His new kingdom on earth and converts the living heathen to Himself.
Jesus and His people reign for a thousand years on the earth. At
the end of the thousand years, Jesus raises the wicked dead (John 5:28,29.)
But somehow, Satan and all the wicked gain the upper hand, and forces Jesus
and all His people, whom are throughout the whole earth, back into the
camp of the saints, the new Jerusalem."
One can see that a true Christian cannot in any way accept this scenario.
This would bring total humiliation and defeat upon Jesus and His immortal
people, and we could never believe that this will happen to them.
49) As the wicked surround the camp of
the saints, what event will then take place? What will happen to
the wicked as a result of this event?
"And fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured
them." Revelation 20:9 (last part).
The word here translated "devoured" is the Greek
katesthio
(Strong's # 2719), which means "to eat down," and this action is "intensive,"
and signifies "to eat up, devour, so that it denotes utter excision," an
entire and a complete destruction. 8
Literal fire will come down from heaven and devour Satan, the evil angels
and the wicked people.
50) What else, besides the wicked, will
be affected by this fire from Heaven?
"But the heavens [atmospheric heavens] and the earth, which are now,
by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the
day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men." 2 Peter 3:7.
Not only will the earth be affected by this fire, but the atmosphere also.
51) What will the fire do to the earth
and atmosphere?
"The heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall
melt
with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein
shall
be burned up."
"Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the
heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall
melt with fervent heat." 2 Peter 3:10,12.
It is this fire from Heaven that cleanses the world of all sin and creates
with it a new earth and new heavens.
52) What is this fire from God called?
"And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the
second
death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of
life was cast into the lake of fire." Revelation 20:14,15.
We found out earlier that the second death has no power over the ones that
are raised to life in the first resurrection, because they will have eternal
life. Then who are the ones that are not written in the book of life?
Obviously, these have to be the wicked, which are to be cast into the lake
of fire, where their bodies and spirits are destroyed, never to exist again.
If there is a second death, then there must have been a first death, which
affects all humans on earth.
"For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive."
1 Corinthians 15:22.
To be resurrected after the thousand years only to be destroyed forever
is indeed a resurrection of damnation.
53) What is the scenic condition at this
time?
"For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all
the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and
the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it
shall leave them neither root nor branch." Malachi 4:1.
"And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under
the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD
of hosts." Verse 3.
The destruction of the wicked at this time will be permanent. Unlike
before at the beginning of the thousand years where their bodies
lied on the ground like dung, now they have neither root nor branch to
be able to exist again.
54) What prophecy in Isaiah will finally
be fulfilled?
"Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among
us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?" Isaiah 33:14.
"He that walketh righteously." Verse 15 (first part).
55) What will the saints at this time be
able to observe?
"And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men
that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither
shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh."
Isaiah 66:24.
The word translated here "worm" is the Hebrew word towla
(Strong's # 8438), which means "a maggot (as voracious)." Of course,
it is not the actual worm that is being used in this context, but rather
the worm's attribute of being a voracious eater with its habitual gorging
character.
The saints will be able to go forth and look upon the carcasses of the
men who have transgressed against the Lord, as the quenchless fire and
undying worm are preying upon them.
56) How is this event re-iterated after
John sees the vision of the new Jerusalem?
"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and
whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their
part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the
second death." Revelation 21:8.
57) At the end of this spectacular event,
what will result from it?
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven
and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more
sea." Revelation 21:1.
The first heaven and first earth, the sinful place in which we are now
living on, will disappear, and as a result, the new heaven and new earth
will emerge from it.
CONDITIONS ON THE NEW EARTH
58) What will happen on the new earth?
"And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD's
house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted
above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people
shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,
to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and
we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and
the word of the LORD from Jerusalem." Isaiah 2:2,3.
"And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people:
and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into
pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither
shall they learn war any more." Verse 4.
The word translated here "rebuke" does not mean to chide someone, or to
scold someone in a negative manner, for there are other Hebrew words for
those definitions. The Hebrew word, in this case, is yakach
(Strong's # 3198), which means "to be right," to be correct in the process
of learning; opposite of argue, like in a feud or fierce confrontation.
The saints will forever be learning and being corrected by the Lord Jesus
Christ, and never will war ever erupt again.
59) What is another description of the
new earth?
"For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall
not be remembered, nor come into mind. But be ye glad and
rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem
a rejoicing, and her people a joy. And I will rejoice in Jerusalem,
and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard
in her, nor the voice of crying." Isaiah 65:17-19.
"There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath
not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but
the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed. And they
shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards,
and eat the fruit of them. They shall not build, and another inhabit;
they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the
days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for
they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with
them. And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer;
and while they are yet speaking, I will hear." Verses 20-24.
60) What did the Lord say about death being
on the new earth?
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be
no
more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be
any more pain: for the former things are passed away." Revelation 21:4.
61) Will animals created by God be on the
new earth? If so, will they all be in harmony with each other?
"The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down
with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together;
and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall
feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat
straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of
the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for
the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters
cover the sea." Isaiah 11:6-9.
There will be no more violence on the new earth. Animals will no
longer be killing each other and eating their flesh, but will graze the
same way as any other vegetarian animal from the grasses and vegetation.
Little children then will finally be able to play with certain animals,
unlike today in which they are now too dangerous to interact with due to
the curse of sin.
62) When the new kingdom starts on earth,
what will happen to the sun and the moon?
"Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the
LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his
ancients gloriously." Isaiah 24:23.
63) Why will the moon be confounded, and
the sun ashamed?
"And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in
it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof."
Revelation 21:23.
"And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light
of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign
for ever and ever." Revelation 22:5.
64) What will continue forever, as it was
in the beginning of creation?
"For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain
before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from
one
sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me,
saith the LORD." Isaiah 66:22,23.
The seventh-day Sabbath will continue on for eternity.
65) What praise of worship will continue
throughout eternity?
"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for
thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are
and were created." Revelation 4:11.
66) Is it vain speculating other things
that will happen on the new earth other than what is shown in the Bible?
"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have
entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for
them that love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9.
67) What scripture will finally be fulfilled
at last?
"Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in
heaven." Matthew 6:10.
"And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign
on the earth." Revelation 5:10.
The reign on the new earth will have finally begun.
